Sexual health, mental health, relationships, addiction — I’ve spent years writing about the topics we’re taught to keep quiet, because I believe silence breeds shame, not safety.
Whether I’m writing memoir, personal essays, or branded work, I’m asking the same question: how can I help the reader feel less alone in this?
My essays have appeared in TIME, Glamour, VICE, The Cut, Salon, The Daily Telegraph, and Business Insider. I’ve also worked with health brands like Hims & Hers, Ro, Maximus, Legacy, Om Mushrooms, and Papa & Barkley.
My debut memoir, Getting Off, was a New York Times Editor’s Choice and has been featured by the BBC, NPR, The Guardian, Elle, The Choe Show, and the TODAY Show.
I’ve also taught memoir workshops and worked with writers to develop personal narratives, including projects with incarcerated writers.
I have an MFA from Columbia University and a BA from UCLA, and I completed coursework in narrative therapy through the Vancouver School of Narrative Therapy, which has shaped how I approach my own writing and the memoir workshops I teach.
